Dustin Hoffman, Sissy Spacek's Dramedy 'Sam & Kate' Acquired by Vertical Ent – Deadline

Exclusive: Vertical Entertainment continues its feature film investment strategy by completing pre-purchase financing and securing distribution rights in North America and the UK/Ireland. Sam & Kate, a family drama starring Oscar winners Dustin Hoffman and Sissy Spacek. The film, from writer-director Darren Le Gallo, also stars former actor son Jake Hoffman and his daughter Skyler Fisk, and is set to hit theaters on November 11.

Le Gallo’s feature directorial debut takes place in a small town in the heart of the country. Hoffman plays Bill, Sam’s (Jake Hoffman) life-size father who comes home to care for his sick father. While at home, Sam develops a crush on a local woman, Kate (Skylar Fisk). At the same time, Bill begins to fall in love with his mother, Tina (Spacek). But finding love is complicated, and these four of hers are no exception. They all have to face their past to make their new love work for the future.

Produced by Le Gallo Sam & Kate Alongside Ben Shields Catlin, Orian Williams, Ford Corbett and Volition Media’s Cindy Bru. Executive producers include Amy Adams and Stacey O’Neal for Bond Group Entertainment, Peter Jalowie for Vertical, Rich Goldberg and Mitch Badin, Ryan Donnell Smith, Emily Salveson, Nathan Klinger and Vanessa Klinger.
