“Best of the Best” 4th Annual Jury Exhibition
Marion Cultural Alliance’s 4th Annual “Best of the Best” Jury Show Reception and Awards Ceremony will be held on October 7 from 5-7pm at The Brick Gallery at 23 SW Broadway St. in Ocala. It is done. This year’s prompt was “Through the Looking Glass.” This year’s judge was James O’Leary, a Florida-based artist and educator. The exhibition runs through his October 29th and will showcase works in a variety of mediums by 50 MCA artist members. All exhibits are for sale and a portion of the sales support his MCA and its mission.

Blow Up II – Inflatable Contemporary Art
From October 8 to December 11, the Edith Marie Appleton Gallery and museum lobby at the Appleton Museum at 4333 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala will be transformed into larger-than-life inflatable art. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM and Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM. Using the work of eight renowned artists, this exhibition explores the imaginative and often whimsical ways artists use air as a tool to create large-scale sculpture. Hispanic Heritage Festival
Editor’s Note: This festival has been postponed from October 1st to October 8th. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the University of Central Florida will host a Hispanic Heritage Festival on October 8 from 10 am to 4 pm at the Appleton Museum of Art at 4333 E. The Appleton Museum of Art (4333 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala) is exhibiting “Invented Observations: Photographs by Steven Benson” in the Balcony Gallery at Florida Arts through November 6. Benson is a professor at Daytona State University and a recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts of the Midwest. “Find Beauty”
The exhibit features numerous costumes, set photos, interactive experiences, sketches, fabrics and videos of the costume design process. These objects from the Appleton Museum’s permanent collection inspired the art and design of the Ocala Civic Theater’s recent Beauty and the Beast. The exhibit will run until his winter of 2022.
